The sustainer of the world Lord Sri Hari Vishnu constitutes the trinity of Hindu gods. The chanting of Vishnu Mantra gives one immense pleasure and spiritual solace. The following mantra dedicated to lord Vishnu is a way of praying to the deity.

Om shaantaa kaaran bhujaga shaya-nang, padma naa-bhang suresh-ang,

Vishva dhaa-rang gagana sad-rishang megha varrnang shubhangam,

Lakshmi kaant-ang kamala naya-nang yogi virr-dhaana gamyang,

Banday vishnung bhava bhaya harang, sarrva loaka aika naatham.

Naa-raa-yanang harrshi keshang govind-ang garudh-vajam,

Vaa-shu-devam hari krishnam, kasha-vaa-ya prana-maa-myaham.

 

The word Ram is the essence of everything. A mere chant of Lord Ram is so powerful that the body and soul of the chanter experiences divinity and spiritual solace. Lord Ram is the foremost step to ultimately gain salvation.

Loakaa bhi-raa-mam rana dheera dhee-rang,

Raa-jeeva netrang raghu-bansa na-tham,

Kaa-ranya roopa, karunaa kara-tang,

Sri raama-chandram sharanam pra-padhay

Lord Ganesha is believed to be the remover of all impediments and hence is called 'Vighneshwara' (remover of obstacles). The elephant deity is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and is deeply revered across India and beyond. The pot bellied god is believed to govern wisdom, success and spiritual power. Before beginning any auspicious task, Lord Ganesha is invoked by prayers.

Gajaa-na-nam bhoota ganaa-dhi sevitam

Kapeesha jamno phala chaara bhak-shitam

Umaa sutam shoaka vinaa-sha kaara-kam

Namaami bigh-nay shwaraa paahi panka-jam


Surya Dev is the personification of Sun. The following mantra is dedicated to the sun god.

Aadi deva namas-tu-bhang, prasidha mama bhaashkarra

Diva karra namas-tu-bhyang, prabhaa karra namas-tu-tay

Goddess Lakshmi is the consort of Sri Hari Vishnu, and is known to be the deity of wealth. The goddess grants her believers wealth, prosperity and fortune but never promotes materialism. The powerful goddess is one of the most popular household goddess and is prayed to widely across the country and beyond. Reciting the mantras dedicated to the goddess is a unique way of praying to mother Maha Lakshmi

O divine Goddess Ma Lakshmi, nothing is hidden from you. You grant all favors to your children removing all miseries from their lives and on the other hand are fearsome for the evil. Accept my salutations O auspicious goddess. 

Sarvaag gay sarrva varr-day, sarrva dushta bhayang kari

Sarrva dukha haro devi, mahaa lakshmi namas-tu-tay

A recitation of the mantras dedicated to Sri Krishna is believed to be a great purifying act in the age of Kalyuga where sinful acts gain importance. These mantras provide spiritual solace and peace of mind which is unmatched.

Moo-kang karoti vaa-chaa-lang, pang-gu langha-ya-tay girim

Yat kripaa tama-hang banday, parmaa-nanda maa-dha-vam

Lead me from the asat to the sat.
Lead me from darkness to light.
Lead me from death to immortality.


Asato ma sat gamaya, 

Tamaso ma jotir gamaya, 

Mrityo ma amritam gamaya

Tuma bina mera kown hai, hay anaa-tha kay naath

Is awasar sansaar may, pakar ubaro haath

Lord Hanuman is venerated as the greatest disciple of Lord Sri Ram. He is believed to be an avatar (incarnation) of Lord Shiva. He is seen as the embodiment of devotion and loyalty and is one of the rare Hindu god who has taken a vow of celibacy. 

Shri guru charan saroja raj, nijamana mukura sudhar,

Baarno raghubar bimala yasa, jodayaka phal chaar,

Budhi heena tanu jaana kay, sumiro pawana kumar,

Bal budhi vidiyadayhu mohi, harahu kalesha vikaar,

Siya pati raama chandraji ki jai sharanam.



SANDHYAA

Taken from the Hindu Twam

Sandhyaa is a prayer to God from the Vedas 

to be performed every dawn and dusk after bath or changing clothes.


Aum sahanaa babatu sahanau bhunaktu sahaviryam karavaabahai. 

Tejaswinaavadhitamastu maa vidvishaa bahai. 

Aum shaantih, shaantih, shaantih. Hari Aum.


Let us be saved together, let us be reared together and united and strengthened

 together too. Let us not be jealous of each other.


 (Aachman – Each time you recite one mantra, take one sip of water from your right palm)

Aum amritopastarnam si swaahaa. Aum amritaapidhaanamasi swaahaa. 

Aum satyam yashah shrimayi shri shrayataam swaahaa.


Oh God! Protector and supporter as thou art of the universe, 

be kind and bestow aupon us truth, fame, beauty and prosperity.


(Second Aachman – in the same way sip the water from the right hand)

Aum shanno devirabhishtaya aapo bhavantu pitaye, 

Shamyorabhi shravantunah.


Omnipresent God, be kind to us and grant the happiness and objects we need.


 (Wet the right hand fingers with water from the left hand and touch the following 

parts of the body respectively whilst reading mantra)

Aum vaak vaak (mouth). 

Aum praanah praanah (nose). 

Aum chakshu chakshu (eyes). 

Aum shrotram shrotram (ears). 

Aum naabhih (navel). 

Aum hridayam (heart). 

Aum kanthah (throat). 

Aum shirah (head). 

Aum baahubhayam yashobalam (shoulders). 

Aum karatala karaprishte (legs).


Oh God! Let my words, life, eyes, ears, neck, heart, throat and head be pure and powerful and 

arms strong and renowned. Let my palm and back of palm perform religious rites.


(Maarjana - Cleansing). In the same way wet the different parts of your body while reciting Mantra.

Aum bhuh punaatu shirasi (head). 

Aum bhuvah punaatu netrayoh (eyes). 

Aum swah punaatu kanthe (throat). 

Aum mahah punaatu hridaye (heart). 

Aum janah punaatu naabhyaam (navel). 

Aum tapah punaatu paadayoh (legs). 

Aum satyam punaatu punah shirasi (head). 

Aum kham brahma punaatu sarvatra (everyplace).


Let the region of Bhuh help us to purify our head. Let the region of Bhuvah help us to purify our eyes. 

Let the region of Swah help us to purify our throat. Let the region of Maha help us to purify our heart. 

Let the region of Janah help us to purify our navel. Let the region of Satya help us to purify our legs. 

Let the region of Satya again help us to purify our heads. Let Brahma help us to purify everyplace.


Aum bhuh, Aum bhuvah, Aum swah, Aum mahah, 

Aum janah, Aum tapah, Aum satyam


Aum ritamcha satyamcha abhidhyaat tapaso adhayajaayate.

Tato raatryajaayata tatah samudroarnavah.

Om samudraat arnavaat adhisamvatsaro ajaayata.

Ahoraatraani vidadhat vishwashya mishatovashi.

Om suryaa chandramasau dhaataa, yathaa purvamakalpayat.

Divamcha prithiviimcha antariksham athoswah.


Tendency for creation arose in the divine mind of the Absolute God. 

Then came chaos, then came subtle water, then day and night. 

The Sun, the Moon, Heaven, world and the horizon, etc. were created as were in the previous creation.


Aum udutyam jaatavedasam devam vahanti ketavah drishe vishwaaya suryam. 

Aum udvayam tamasah pari swah pashyanta uttaram. 

Devam devatraa suryamaganma jyotiruttamam. 

Aum chitram devaanaam udgaadanikam. 

Chakhsurmitrasya varunyasyaagne aapraadyavaa prithivii antariksham 

surya aatmaa jagatah tasthushashcha swaahaa.


Oh God! Thou art beyond darkness. The luminous sun represents Thee. 

Everything in this universe proclaims Thy glory. 

The wise are surprised and illuminated by Thine supreme nature. 

Thou hast given vision to the sun, the sea-god, fire-god. 

The Heaven, the middle region and the earth are being sustained by Thee. 

Thou art the soul of the universe.


Aum tachchakshurdevahitam, purastaat shukramuchcharat.

Pashyema sharadah shatam, jivema sharadah shatam.

Shrinuaama sharadah shatam, prabravaama sharadah shatam.

Adiinaah syaamah sharadah shatam, bhuyashcha sharadah shataat.


Omniscient God, let us see for hundred autumns, let us live for hundred autumns, 

let us hear for hundred autumns, let us live more than hundred autumns.


(Bow down your head each time you recite one Mantra).

Aum brahmane namah. Aum aachaaryebhyo namah. Aum rishibhyo namah. 

Aum devebhyo namah. Aum vedebhyo namah. Om sarvebhyo devebhyo namah. 

Om sarvaabhyo devibhyo namah.


Salutation to Brahma, to preceptor, to sages, to Gods, to Vedas.


(Recite nine times the Gaayatri Mantra)

Aum bhurbhuvah swah, 

Tatsaviturvarenyam bhargodevasya dheemahi,

Dhiyo yonah prachodayaat.


Let us be in union with Thine luminous nature who is the creator of the three worlds and giver of our intellect.


Aum namah shambhavaayacha, Mayo bhavaayacha Namah Shankaraayacha, 

Mayaskaraayacha, Namah Shivaayacha, Shivataraayacha.


Om vir-yamasi vir-yam moyi dhehi

Om balamasi balam moyi dhehi

Om tejo-asi tejo moyi dhehi

Om ojo-asi ojo moyi dhehi

Om manyurasi manyum moyi dhehi

Om saha-asi saho moyi dhehi


Salutation to the Almighty the giver of bliss, happiness and peace. 

May we be blessed with energy, strength, glory, courage and patience.


(Universal Peace Prayer)

Sarveshaam mangalam bhuyaat sarvesantuniraamayaah

Sarve bhadraani pashyantu maa kashchit dukha bhaak bhavet.

Nandantu sarva bhutaani niraatankaani santucha.

Priitirastu parasparam siddhirastu chakarmanaam.

Swastyastu raajno nityapah shamprajaabhya stathevaastu.

Swastyastu dvipade nityam shaanti rastu chatuspade.

Shaantirastu no devasya bhurbhuvah swah shivam tathaa.

Sarvatah shaantirastu nah saumyaa bhavantu bhutaani.

Twam deva jagatah srastaa paataa daivatwamevahi.

Prajaah paalaya devesha shaantim kuru jagatpate.

Yo me adya snihiyate tasya shivamastu sadaa bhuvi.

Yashcha maam dvesti lokeasmin soapi bhadraani pashyatu.

Aum shaantih, shaantih, shaantih. Hari Om.


Let there be good to all, let all be free from sickness, let all see good and let none suffer. 

Let all be happy and fearless, let there by sympathy for each other and success for all work. 

Let there be prosperity to the King who protects the people every day and also to the people. 

Let the bipeds and the quadrupeds be prosperous everyday. 

Let there be peace in Gods and in the three worlds, let us and all other beings have peace everywhere. 

Creator and sustainer as thou art of the world, Thou encourageth godliness and establisheth peace amongst the people.

Who is my friend today, let him be in peace and who is my enemy let him also be in peace.
