As a young boy Pundit Krishen Ramdeen was exposed to a variety of social and cultural activities which groomed him into an outstanding individual today. At the age of four he attended the Mc Bean Hindu School while simultaneously was blessed with the ability to play the dholak and harmonium with the support and encouragement of his parents.

In the year of 1982 he wrote the Common Entrance examination which secured him a place at the Couva Government Secondary School. At this age he was already an accomplished dholak and harmonium player and now a tabla student, he frequently played for his school. After his secondary school exams Pt. Krishen pursued tertiary education at the New York Institute of Technology where he gained his BSc. (Hon.) degree in Mechanical Engineering and MSc. (Hon.) degree in Environmental Management.

Pundit Krishen Ramdeen is currently employed as a corporate HSE&Q Manager at a major industrial establishment in the Point Lisas Industrial Estate. While this occupies his daylight hours, he devotes a lot of his extra time to performing public discourses on philosophy. This is done both at the national forum as well as major countries as the United States and Canada. He also hosts a weekly program, Gyaan Amritam on the local cable television WINTV where he gives inspiration through philosophy and music. In addition, he is a trained astrologer.

With youths as his major concern, Punditji gives practical discourses encompassing a universal religion. Presently Punditji has produced three religious recordings (CD’s) with inspirational messages and explanations. He has become distinguished for his passion for Higher Knowledge and well loved for his spiritual wisdom as a Pundit. Punditji is married and also a proud father of two beautiful children. With family life being most important he maintains a closely knitted relationship with his relatives. Pundit Krishen also enjoys involvement in a wide range of sports including cricket, table tennis and soccer.

Punditji reflects on the words of Gandhiji , “Before the Throne of the Almighty we shall be judged, not by what we have eaten nor by whom we have been touched but by whom we have served and how. Inasmuch as we serve a single human being in distress, we shall find favor in the sight of God.” This is in essence the law of which this universe operates under. It stems from a dynamic exchange in the flow of energy, the law of giving and receiving.

By the law of giving and receiving, Pt. Krishen Ramdeen has employed these as his own and is regarded as a living example. He expresses his views on this law, stating that “if you want love, learn to give love; if you want money, help someone else make money; if you want happiness, try to make others happy,” and continuing affirmatively he says, “I assure you once you have danced to the rhythm of this universal law, you will realize its simplistic applications are astonishingly truthful yet practical. The eternal Kahlil Gibran shares “all you have shall some day be given; Therefore give now, that the season of giving may be yours and not your inheritors.”

This concept is straightforward. Just as blood flows throughout our bodies, hindering its circulation will eventually cause stagnation, coagulation or death even. So too, in the law of giving and receiving, circulation must be continuous.

Punditji believes that the law of giving and receiving is intertwined with the fruits of Karma where, the act of giving of oneself is the act of love and if you sow the seed of love, eventually it will grow and manifest fruits for all to enjoy. Giving then, becomes in itself its own journey and immediate gratification is gained. Quoted from the Bhagavad-Gita, chapter 17, text 20: “ Charity given out of duty, without expectation of return, at the proper time and place, and to a worthy person is considered to be in the mode of goodness.” The true act of giving is an expression of the heart.

So in concluding, Pt. Ramdeen ignites a universal proposal, in the words of the great Martin Luther King Jr., “Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace; a soul generated by love.”
